The Missy WYss Celebration of Dance - June 6, 2026

On June 6, 2026 over 70 attendees experienced the beauty of movement at The Missy Wyss Celebration of Dance - an evening of dance featuring nine original works performed by community members and professional dance artists. Named in honor of the founder and director of the former Albion College Dance Program, the performance took place on the stage of the beautiful Goodrich Chapel on the Albion College campus.

Fifteen amateur and professional dancers came together to make this special event possible. Guest artists from HBY Ensemble (Detroit, MI) and Demetrius Klein Dance Company (Hamilton, OH) traveled to Albion to share their artistry. Together, these dancers brought more than 160 years of combined dance experience, offering insight into the art form's enduring legacy. Attendees also experienced new choreographic works by Artistic Director, Kristy Clement, created for a cast of six community dancers, along with performances by Ashley Miller and Angie Dickinson, experienced dancers from the greater Albion area. Dickinson's two young daughters joined her on stage, performing new work by Clement as well. 

The audience stayed for a lively post-show talk-back, asking about the dancers' experience and journeys, the inspirations and process behind their works, and what opportunities are available for people who want to dance in our community, both children and adults. 

On Sunday, following the performance, Demetrius Klein held a master class at In-Fluence Studio where 7 attendees were guided through a choreographic exploration in which they were invited to make choices with no wrong answers, feel and view how music can change movement, and discover nuances of bodies moving together in a space.
